STYLING YOUR PANTS

It's 6.45 a.m., you have to beat traffic and get to work on time but you have no idea of what you're wearing to work. You probably had plans of getting everything ready before going to bed but Blind Spot was so lit that by the time you buzzed back to reality, it was 1 am in the morning. Damn it!

Planning and putting together outfits for work for the whole week or just for three straight days is such a big feat and as such not everyone's piece of cake. Other than that, dressing up for the work place can be tasking because three quarters of the time, the hawk-eyed HR expects you to keep it official or smart casual if you're lucky enough.
So you're perched on a pile of clothes still wondering what to wear then not such a bright idea pops up in your mind. Black! Pants or skirt? Pants please. Problem solved....at least until you begin to crack your head over what to pair it with. You want to save time because you're running late, but at the same time you don't want to show up at your workplace looking like you're going to a funeral and you have a mountain  of clothes to sift through.
Breathe breathe breathe.
Black is neutral and a wardrobe staple but how you wear it has a lot of impact on the overall look of your outfit. If you are having one of those days, here are some tips on how to go about it;
  • Go for a bright colored top
  • If it's chilly try a bright colored top layered with a blazer or a trench coat or both.
  • Tie everything up with a nice, pretty-looking, classic pair of heels or pumps.
  • Don't forget to accessorize but remember to keep it on the minimum. You don't want to resemble Mme lady from Half A Day and Other Stories๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰
For this look, I matched my black pants with a mint sleeveless top and an ash grey blazer. Mint is great if you're going for something rather subtle and yet not boring. White shoes with a touch of black will go a great way in breaking the monotony. A wrist watch is a life saver in any unplanned outfit situation, unless it has popping colors that risk making you look like a walking Christmas tree. If you decide to throw in some earrings, make it simple and elegant.
Over and above, comfort is key.
Have a lovely week!
