SHARING MY VERY FIRST BLOG POST: MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Folks, can you imagine just how fast time has flown! I just noticed that in 2017 I have do e very few creative pieces compared to 2016.I was going through my blog and I felt so nostalgic reading this post.Guys, welcome to read my very first blog post!Being the last post this year, I hope you will enjoy it and I want to wish you a merry blissful Christmas and a happy New year!

It's a hot and windy Saturday afternoon. The sun is out all vibrant and the wind is trying to steal the show. I get home from church all psyched up to watch the last episode of season one of "House of cards" then darn, power went out.By the way, sometimes I imagine preaching or talking to a big audience is tricky.I remember one time when a pastor in church was warning women against wearing high heeled shoes, his argument being that the moment you put on high heeled shoes and begin to walk, your ass is compelled to swing left right and center.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Lord help us

So, I decide to lie lazily in bed while trying to figure out what to do with a whole 3hours of pitch darkness in the day. I'm just lying there,  minding my own business; peeping on Whatsapp, snooping on Facebook, liking this and that, commenting on this and that, profile stalking who and who.Yes,that is my business.

The Estate is very quiet, no one is playing music, I imagine people are still struggling to open their eyes and cook tumbukiza and of course just a few heavenly noises from kids running and playing around, not to mention my Oga brothers who will never learn to talk in low tones. They are about seven young men, probably in their late twenties or early thirties, all living in a two bed-roomed apartment . They are tall, very dark and their beards can make Prophet Owuor's chin bow down in shame. They like to shop on Friday, or so I think. I don't know where they source these slim, light skinned Kenyan babes, every weekend and when that is done, all neighbors get a treatment of the
conventional thick Nigerian accent dose mingled with giggles. How I long for Monday!

Away from my brothers from the West, I have never seen my next door neighbor, but judging from her shoe size, I think she's short, plump, fluffy, and her African hair must be very black, long and shiny.
Sometimes, I imagine Cesare Lombroso would be very proud of himself if he saw her. We will call her Viviane. You see, Viviane’s balcony is very close to my bedroom and whenever she steps out to make a phone call, I become part of it. So, literally I'm part of her life, which makes me wonder if she's part of mine courtesy of the bedroom-balcony proximity. Lol, you've never lived if you've never owned a living room that's literally part of someone's bedroom.  So, this afternoon Viviane is terribly pissed off. She's  catapulted out of the house onto the balcony ranting like a mad woman. I am almost tempted to believe she had wedding plans slated for December and her Ten-year savings are stuck at Chase Bank. Nevertheless, I decide hold my horses and listen on. Like I was ever going to help her sort it out! Udaku.

Alas! Apparently, some member of her circus of girlfriends went out with her boyfriend last night without her knowledge or perhaps more importantly, her approval. Her throat must be going dry because she's been on for about 30 mins.Something's telling me to chomoa my head outside the window and advise her to drink some water before she can proceed with her ranting. And then I remember that I don't want to have my afternoon ruined after having a splendid morning in the house of the Lord. One hour down and Viviane is still spitting venom. She finally tells the recipient on the other end that she is hiking a matatu to town. I let out a sigh of relief until the point when I actually imagine that she is probably going to make human biryani out of her boyfriend and the alleged thief. The most painful part is that Vivian's sneaky little informant is somewhere sipping a cold glass of juice and feeling proud of herself for doing something great for humanity.Y'all little snitches. Smh.
I don't want to look out of the window for the fear of being caught eavesdropping  but I imagine her beautiful, kinky, tough African hair is smoking, almost going up in flames.
Suddenly it's pouring and I wonder if Viviane is going to make it to town. Well if she does, I will be in my bedroom at exactly 8 p.m. in time for her return....to catch up.

FESTIVE SEASON GLAM

Happy Friday fam, I don'tknow if it's just me or if there's someone else out there who feels there are so many places to go but very limited outfit  ideas to choose from, considering it's December.  It's pretty warm but with periodic cold spells that are making it very difficult to choose what to wear. The struggle is real....Nevertheless, here are some ideas you can borrow:

Here I am wearing a black lace top and a beige pair of carrot pants. I love to accesorize with amply big looped earrings when I'm wearing an outfit that leaves so much skin as this.  Black and beige are a bit neutral and this peachy belt is doing well in blending everything in and breaking the monotony. And of course strappy heels are my go to any day. Also, you can check out how I styled this lace top differently here .

Enjoy the rest of the photos and have a blissful weekend.

ASK THE GIRL IN THE PURPLE DRESS

Good morning!
I think I am in a very good mood today, and it's a beautiful Friday morning. The festive season is here and just the thought of it makes me smile. What have you been up to? What plans do you have for this holiday season?
Anyways, I would like to share with you guys some positive vibes from this shoot. By positive vibes I mean royal purple, white shoes and a beautiful scenery. Color can heal and this week I am crushing on this particular dress and my white chunks. It's loose fitting, it's flowy, it's free and it's PURPLE.I bought this dress from a random thrift stall, and the moment I saw it, I knew I wanted it. Sorry, needed it is more accurate.
The festive season is here and  I'm really looking forward to spending some me time(a lot of it) in the next few weeks if time allows. No,imma create some time for that.I need it, my body needs it.And by the way if you are feeling all drained out, it's okay, it's human, it's necessary as a reminder to you that your body and mind too, both need some rest.Having said that lovely people, I wish you a lovely weekend.
Love , Lynn

A TALE OF TWO HEARTS, LAKE VICTORIA AND A LIFETIME OF BLISS

We arrived at Sori at about 9.30 in the PM. Sori is a small Lakeside town in Migori County that stands toe to toe with lake Victoria with a population of about 10,000 people.
Evenings in Sori are typically quiet with a few men and women roaming the streets here and there and the men out in the lake casting their nets. My long time friends were getting married. I had quite a bit of a challenge explaining to people if I was from the bride's side or the groom's side because I have known these two amazing human beings for as long as I can remember. When you are a freshman in college, it's only natural that you blend in with people you have something in common with.Being a freshman in college is a stormy phase of life, especially if your campus lies squarely in the Nairobi CBD. I could go on and on about this but let me just reiterate that I with a couple other friends spent most of our Friday evenings savoring well cooked and properly creamed managu and saga in Oliver's hostel room, which they shared with three other guys. PURE BLISS
Saturday Morning
Nothing feels as great as waking up to a beautiful sunrise and a breath taking view of the lake.
As small as Sori town is, it has several accommodation options that a globe trotter can explore. There's Supanova, a three star hotel with beautiful spacious rooms and balconies that overlook the lake,  there's Lake Victoria Beach Resort, and then there's Zhanjiang, just to mention but a few. Let's talk about Zhanjiang. Why would someone give a hotel such a name amidst a people with sh and s problems? It's not fair.If I lived in Sori and I had to refer to that hotel frequently I'd just call it  "Zi" and save myself the agony of having to pronounce it's name in full.
It'd be something like;
"Find me at the Zi"
"See you at the Zi"
"I'm waiting for you at the Zi"
"She's spending the night at the Zi "
"We're having lunch at the Zi"
Anywho, I don't know if it's just me but there's something therapeutic about large water bodies that I can't explain. I'm not sure if it's the water or the islands, or the beautiful illusion of the place where the sky meets the water. I just don't understand. And the most interesting bit is that from Sori one is able to get an undistracted view of the coveted Migingo Island.
Nevertheless, If you've ever attended an African traditional wedding ceremony then you'll agree with me that food is the centre of everything. It's top on the agenda of the day. After a sumptuous meal of a variety of delicacies from ugali to chicken to g nut sauce (we resorted that groundnut water was more befitting )πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ to traditional vegetables,  we set out for the lake where we enjoyed a very delightful boat ride. Okay,...not all of us, some people adamantly refused to get into the boat .Hydrophobia is real my people😁😁😁
Anyway, I will keep these photos for each time I am about to give up on something. See, you don't have to be preaching about something for days for you to be heard, all you need to do is to act and those around you will definitely pick up something from it.These two have shown me (and others who know them ) that you have to fight for something if you really want it.They have come a long way, been dating since high school. I don't even remember my high school sweetheart's name. Wait, did I have one? I honestly don't remember.
I particularly loved their choice of outfits.Blue is such a laid back color and I really love how it effortlessly blends into nature (must be the blue sky) The icing on the cake was definitely the intricate embroidery details on both outfits. Perfection.
Point is, love lives here and I was  honored to be part of the celebration that brought together a host of friends and family in a very colorful ceremony, in a beautiful home on a hill by the lake.
Good food, good views, laughter, good company, serenity, love.
There are so many things in a human being's life that they never want to experience again but this ain't one of them. I want to relive this weekend. I want to travel back to Sori Beach, wake up to a beautiful sunrise and watch the Sun go to sleep.
Oli and Vio,  many many happy returns.
Fam, allow me to share with you some of the tiny joyous moments that we froze from our little rendezvous.
Till next time, bye!
